CHAT WITH MS. PEGGY JUDY
Ms.
Peggy Judy: "I am a BlasT!"
Peggy Judy with Judy Garland.
Q: If you were not a diva, an artist, what would you be today?
JUDY: Something working with writing and literature. Writing and
teaching English maybe.
Q: Are you fun? What do you do for fun?
JUDY: I'm a blast. Ha. When I can I escape to Hawaii and go
snorkeling. I like to hear live music and see shows, go to art museums and
also just poke around at oddball places. The Victorian era and taxidermy
fascinate me for some reason. It's something to do with my grandmother I
suppose.
Q: Why you keep the photos of your ex-husband on your website?
JUDY: Loved 'em all. Still do in a weird way. No one who touches you
ever totally leaves your life.
Q: You know, the media quite often refer to you as the queen
of extravaganza. What extravaganza are we talking about here?
JUDY: Extravagant taste in clothing perhaps? I've done some rather
dazzling stage productions--big sets, males dancers and co-stars. Very fun
but it all got pretty crowded on stage.
so now it's just me and a beloved pianist.
Ms. Peggy Judy: "Get a really good teacher and stick with them."
Q: Any advice to aspiring singers?
JUDY: Study. Get a really good teacher and stick with them. It's
very important. It's amazing the difference it makes to train your voice.
Listen to good singers and study them. If you want to have a career that
lasts you really have to work at it. I have met Katherine McPhee's mother,
Peisha. She is an extraordinary singer and voice coach. One reason her
daughters are such fine singers is because they grew up with a wonderful
teacher in the house!
Q: If you had to chose two wishes to be fulfilled on stage or in
life, what you would chose?
JUDY: #1.Peggy Judy at Carnegie Hall. That has a nice ring to it.
#2.A nice honeymoon for Peggy with her dream man, traveling around in their
brand new Airstream trailer.
