Career highlight, accomplishments and awards: Fiona Jones (composer, jazz singer) gained international recognition for her compositions and work with contemporary big bands, including the National Jazz Orchestra and the Porter's Big Soul Band. Her compositions and arrangements have been performed and recorded by such artists as Montiel, Aznavour, and M. Jarre. Her discography includes 46 albums as leader or musical director and more than 50 recordings with other artists. A frequent clinician and guest artist for Luxembourg National Orchestra and Europe Contemporary Jazz Conservatory, Stradivarius trombones, Fiona Jones has appeared throughout the world, from Australia to Zurich, sharing her expertise in improvisation, composition, arranging, and jazz history. Her published work "Art of Composition" has inspired many composers and singers young and old. She is currently working on a new book Jazz Improvisation. The Montreal Jazz Festival gave her a 5 night tribute. In 1999, 1996 and 1994 she won Composer of the year award from CabaretVilleMagazine. Selected Panels: International Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences Grant Program (2002-2007), Society of Endowment for the Arts, International Music Programs (2000), Awards: Grammy nomination, Best Jazz Ensemble Performance (2000), LA Irvine Chancellor’s Distinguished Fellowship (2004), National Endowment for the Arts (Jazz Performance, 2004), University of Arts, Humanities Institute Fellowship (2003), Conservatory of Jazz Studies Award (2007). Her tours and performances include a one woman show at Paladin Casino, a concert at Carnegie Hall and leading role in the production of "La Femme du Mystere" at the Opera of Paris.
