The recently published Volume V of the "World Who’s Who in Jazz, Cabaret, Music and Entertainment" is making headlines. Reviews and articles are making front page news in music magazines and websites around the world, to name a few: AllaboutJazz.com, Ejazznews, International News Agency. The London Monthly Herald, The International Herald Daily News, The European Journal, Euro Globe and World Television, JazzNews. BBC, etc...Here is a selection of reviews of the book that appeared this week.

From the International News Agency (INA)

Simply Magnificent!                                           “Best Musicians, Singers, Albums and Entertainment Personalities of the 19th, 20th and 21st Centuries.” A new book by Maximillien de Lafayette. Published by FAMSPA.

By Albert Townsend, Syndicate Columnist. London

A massive tome on world entertainment and legends that shaped the course and face of showbiz throughout the ages has been recently published by TimeSquaresPress and the Federation of American Musicians, Singers and Performing Artists (FAMSPA). And the title is self-explanatory “Best Musicians, Singers, Albums and Entertainment Personalities of the 19th, 20th and 21st Centuries.” This is volume V of the series World Who’s Who in Jazz, Cabaret, Music and Entertainment. A very ambitious and impressive set of 20 volumes. The ravishing American diva, Patrice Ferris graced the cover of this massive volume.

Elegantly printed and fabulously captivating. This book will make waves!!

The previous 4 published volumes were intelligently crafted, elegantly printed, and well written in a very refreshing style, always with authority, fun and abundance of information. But this, volume (Volume V) is the crown jewels of this encyclopedic work.  It starts with the era of the very first recordings in America, the golden age of radio, serenades the colorful characters and personalities of the ragtime period, swings with the brass bands illustrious musicians, rocks with the stars and idols of the early years of Rock “N’ Roll, flirts with a roster of 2,000 contemporary celebrities and ends up with the best of the best in the business. Add to this Herculean journey, 970 photos including rare and vintage pictures of America and its music leaders from 1820 to the present.

The book is an addictive and most captivating book. It has it all; in-depth research, historical data, roster of the world who’s who, charts and billboard of the greatest hits of all time, and –the piece de resistance- the list and rating of best and hottest Jazz, Pop and cabaret singers, musicians and entertainers of the 19th, 20th and 21st centuries.. In other words, it is complete. The book is written by Maximillien de Lafayette, a world authority in the field and a renowned showbiz and music critic/historian. Needles to say, “Best Musicians, Singers, Albums and Entertainment Personalities of the 19th, 20th and 21st Centuries” is his best published work -so far. This is an essential reference tool. Look upon it as one of the best published books on entertainment, music and showbiz. Reviewer Albert Townsend.

THE WORLD OF SHOWBIZ IS UNMERCIFUL! YOU BET!

The world of showbiz, including Jazz, Pop, Rock "N" Roll and Broadway is unmerciful. How easy it is to forget the music and entertainment giants and pioneers of yesteryears! Time erases the glory, the memory, and accomplishments of past stars and legends. The musical heritage and treasures of America will dissipate for ever, unless, conscientious historians bother to record memorable events from the history of entertainment, the ups and downs in the careers of stars of the era, and above all, the meaningful contributions of pioneers to the world of music. This is the duty of responsible historians. Fortunately, now and then, few books on the subject surface on the landscape of "intelligent" publishing shedding lights on our magnificent singers, musicians and composers, and most cherished musical treasures, lost or forgotten for lack of scholarly research or because of changes in musical taste and preference of a generation that lost interest in the music of the golden years of Broadway, Hollywood, New Orleans and Vaudeville.

The Federation of American Musicians, Singers and Performing Artists (FAMSPA) is fully aware of this bleeding truth and alarming situation. Thus, it consecrated time and efforts to publish a series of several volumes on the history of music, showbiz, entertainment, musicians and singers of America from the 17th century to the present. By now, music lovers, entertainers, Jazz singers and musicians and those who cherish America's musical heritage have either read or heard about the 20 volumes of the World Who's Who in Jazz, Cabaret, Music and Entertainment" published by FAMSPA, a United States nonprofit organization dedicated to the preservation and promotion of quality work of American musicians and singers.

PRESERVING AMERICA'S MUSICAL TREASURES! MUSIC HISTORY COULD BE FUN AND HILARIOUS TOO!

FAMSPA has already published 4 massive volumes. And I was fortunate to acquire those previously published tomes. But the best of the series just bursts out this week; a new volume. Volume V, that is. Continues NEXT
